Last year the Governor vetoed SB1519, ostensibly because of the financial burden she feared it created. This year the bill has been re-written and clearly states:
“if the university receives private funding”.
The Governor's office is located in the
Executive Tower at 1700 W. Washington in Phoenix.

Dear Governor Hull,

I am writing today to express my support of a measure concerning Industrial Hemp and a research project regarding production in Arizona.

I have studied this issue at length and I urge you to do so also. There are many resources available on the Internet that reveal the details of this remarkable crop. We owe it to our future generations who will not have the  timber and petroleum resources we have come to depend on in virtually every aspect of our daily lives.

Our national security is at stake, with our dependence on foreign oil at nearly 60%, and our old growth forests nearly extinct, I feel our nation is vulnerable to catastrophic upheavals related to energy supply, our water, air and rural communities and local sustainability of the lifestyle my family has come to enjoy.

These alternative technologies must be researched and developed and this will require cooperation among many parties, including existing industrial infrastructure. We stand ready and willing to work with the Law Enforcement community with models of successful Industrial Hemp programs from over 25 other nations, including our  neighbor to the north, Canada.

Please permit Arizona Universities to study this important natural resource.
