Mr. Tim Castleman, President Arizona Industrial Hemp Council 1058 N. Higley Road, Suite 108-160 Mesa, Arizona 85205
Dear Mr. Castleman:
Thank you for your letter of March 12, 2001 and the attached information.
Initially, I believe you misunderstood my comments regarding the
11/2 % THC content. What I said was that in the 70's there was marijuana being smoked that contained a 11/2% THC content. Both Lt. Edwards and myself testified that the THC content of marijuana
being smoked now is, in fact, higher.
I will be glad to review the information provided at the the conclusion
of the Legislative Session as time does not permit me to do this now. It is not for me to say which projects the Arizona universities will and will not get involved in. I am sure we will all review any
reports produced by our universities.
While I appreciate the fact your goal was not to produce marijuana
in the fields, the proposed legislation did legalize the possession of this drug. I am pleased you are no longer supporting such legislation.
Sincerely,
Jerry G. Landau
Special Assistant County Attorney
