A successful hemp and/or kenaf industry will depend upon a solid research base. Because both are multi-use plants, the research program will vary
somewhat depending upon the planned end use of the crop. Some aspects of production research (that is, research related to the successful growth of the crop) will be much the same no matter what the end use.
Additionally, past experience tells us market research and development is key to the success of this industry.
Therefore, this project will be driven by a market R&D effort to define those segments with the highest likelyhood of commercial success, coupled with
agronomic research of the plant itself. Following are two outlines defining our goals in these areas.
The production research does not include research on harvesting and processing these crops at this time, however this is under revision at and an updated
outline will be posted as soon as it is available.
